WGP偏振片(Wire-grid polarizer)的光学特性直接影响投影仪的光亮度和对比度.通过实验测定了WGP偏振片主要光学特性随光束入射角的变化,并依据这些数据,重点分析了投影仪的光亮度和对比度如何受制于WGP偏振片的光学特性.发现以WGP偏振片为基础的反射式投影仪的最佳工作入射角取决于WGP偏振片的物理参数,而不一定是普遍认为的45°.当WGP处于最佳工作入射角时,透射和反射的消光系数可以同时达到较高水平,整个系统具有最高对比度.另一方面,由于WGP偏振片中自由载流子的热吸收,WGP偏振片的光利用率要比传统的偏振分光器低.
