A model based on the single-ion theory is shown to be applicable for determining the preferential substitution of R ions at different sites and the crystal-field parameters of the R ions in the multicomponent system (Nd, Pr, Gd)2Fe14B. This model is also applied to determine the anisotropy coefficients and the exchange fields of several quasi-ternary compounds of a previous work. Information obtained earlier is used to analyze the spin-reorientation transition in the (Nd, Pr, Gd)2Fe14B system. Diagram of spin-structures of this multicomponent system is given.
