Single-phase bulk Al-Fe(Mo,Si,B) nanostructured alloy was prepared by heating a material consisting of alternate layers of amorphous (Fe0.99Mo0.01)(78)Si9B13 ribbons and pure aluminum sheets for 20 min under a pressure of 3 GPa at a temperature of 1073 K. Its mean grain size is about 22 nm and its crystal structure is orthorhombic. The formation mechanism of the bulk nanostructured alloy is discussed.
