We have extended a method devised by Rayleigh and calculate the effective dielectric constants (epsilon(eff)) of face-centred-cubic (fee), body-centred tetragonal (bet) and hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structures of spheres of a dielectric material (epsilon(p)) in a dielectric matrix (epsilon(f)) specially. The comparison of the (epsilon(eff) - epsilon(f))/f(c) Of these three types of lattice shows that the body-centred tetragonal structure is favoured in energy, where f(c) is the volume fraction of particles that are touching for a given lattice.
