A hydrophobic epoxy copolymer P (FA-co-GMA-co-St) was synthesized by free radicals emulsion polymerization. The copolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FT-IR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum(1H-NMR), the hydrophobic epoxy coating was prepared by blending the copolymers. The results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurement show that contact angle of epoxy fluorinated copolymer modified epoxy coating decreases by 15° to 116° after 48h exposure in water and the surface fluorine element decreases by 5.36%. The contact angle of non-epoxy fluorinated copolymers modified epoxy coating decreases by 48° to 88° after 48h exposure in water and the surface fluorine element decreases by 7.94%. Epoxy copolymer improves environmental stability of the super-hydrophobie epoxy coatings.
