The failure of the blades of a compressor rotor was analysed: the bending fracture of blade no 28 was caused by a wake interaction between the stationary and rotary blades of the compressor; the cracking of the tenon of blade no 19 was induced by fretting fatigue; the combination of the twist stress with other stresses led to the transverse fracture of blade no 19. Some suggestions for improvements are proposed.
