The medium carbon steel with 0.3 mass% residual copper was oxidized at 1100 ℃ for 1800 s and 3600 s to obtain scal layer on the steel substrate. The microstructure at the interface between the scale layer and steel matrix was observed by using of SEM-EDX analysis, the copper enrichment and segregation along the interface was also examined. The effect of S and Ti content on the copper enrichment and segregation at the interface was discussed. The results show that copper precipitation on inclusions depends on the amount of manganese sulfur inclusions to a certain extent.Manganese sulfur inclusions are effective on decreasing the amount of copper enrichment and segregation at the interface, and reducing the surface cracking due to infiltrating of liquid copper to grain boundary.
