The fundamental research situation and development of twininduced plasticity steel used for automobile are summarized. The relationship between the different chemical compositions of TWIP steel and mechanical properties, the effect of different addition agents on structure and properties of TWIP steel, the mechanism of TWIP effect, and the impact of different temperature, strain rate, processing technique on structure and properties of TWIP steel are emphatically introduced.
