Influences of temperature and composition of CO-CO2-H2 gas mixtures on the formation rate of iron carbide during iron ore reduction are discussed through thermodynamic calculation and corresponding experiments. Based on the examination of the composition of reduction products, the feasibility is confirmed for the preparation of iron carbide by CO-CO2-H2gases reducing iron ore.
