PHYSICAL SIMULATION BASED INTELLIGENT SYSTEM FOR THE PREDICTION OF SHEET METAL DRAWING CAPABILITY

With the combination of a new theoretical formula, physical simulation experiments, the technology of artificial neural network and database, an intelligent system for the prediction of sheet metal drawing capability is constructed for the first time. A modified criterion for sheet metal drawing capability is proposed in this paper, namely, the Technological Limiting Drawing Ratio, TLDR = f(R, n, s, t, F, μ,r_d,r_p…). Based on the studies of other scholars, a new formula is derived to predict the TLDR in this paper. Then a series of orthogonal physical simulation experiments are designed to investigate the effect of technological parameters on the TLDR, and the results are analyzed in the paper. Then the predicting system is constructed with the combination of the theoretical formula, orthogonal experiments, the technology of artifocial neural network and database. The predicted results show good agreements with experimental data, so it can be used to avoid the blindness in the selection of sheet metal before stamping. The system operates under the Windows operating system, and it supports the mechanism of Client/Server as well as Intranet, so the system has high engineering value.

The deformation characteristic of bland in deep drawing is discussed. It is pointed out that the friction and lubrication conditions in for drawing are different from that in mechanical motion or machine work or other plastic process. The common test methods in laboratories are analyzed. It shows that though all those test methods can test the friction coefficient, the probe test method is most suitable for the research of friction and lubrication and the process in deep drawing, for this method is identical with the actual work condition either from the test principle or deformation status of the blank. Last the successful application in the deep drawing simulator newly developed the the probe method are intro- duced in detail.

Taking CPU time cost and analysis accuracy into account, dynamic explicit finite ele- ment method is adopted to optimize the forming process of autobody panels that often have large sizes and complex geometry. In this paper, for the sake of illustrating in detail how dynamic explicit finite element method is applied to the numerical simulation of the autobody panel forming process,an example of optimization of stamping process pain meters of an inner door panel is presented. Using dynamic explicit finite element code Ls-DYNA3D, the inner door panel has been optimized by adapting pa- rameters such as the initial blank geometry and position, blank-holder forces and the location of drawbeads, and satisfied results are obtained.

The results show that the creeprupture properties of DD3 single crystal satisfy the requirements for high performance turbine blade application. The influence of crystal orientation on the creeprupture property of DD3 single crystal was tested and discussed. An engineering criterion to evaluate the regimes of secondary and tertiary creep is proposed, and this method gives a reasonable result for practical applications. The fractography and TEM micrography of the tested specimens had been studied, and it is determined that the glidecontrolled creep is the basic creep mechanism of DD3 single crystal at intermediate temperature, but the thermally activated processes become dominant at higher temperature.

Developing carbon materials targeted for applications-A summary on the annual world conference on carbon, Carbon2011

The 2011 Annual World Conference on Carbon (Carbon 2011) was held in Shanghai, China, during 24-29 July, 2011. This conference was hosted jointly by East China University of Science and Technology, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and Institute of Coal Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences. About 800 attendees from 42 countries/regions participated in this conference, and 797 papers were accepted for presentation, including 5 plenary lectures, 42 keynote lectures, 280 oral presentations, and 470 posters, involving 10 topics: graphene; nanocarbon, carbon for energy storage and conversion, porous carbon and adsorption, carbon fiber and composites, precursor/carbonization and graphitization, computation and modeling, bio-carbon and safety, novel experimental techniques and characterization, bulk carbon and industrial applications. Research and development of nanocarbons are quite active and in particular, graphene received tremendous interest. Rapid progress has also been made on the electrochemical properties, energy conversion and energy storage applications of carbon materials.

The TiN films were synthesized with an alternate process of depositing titanium from a E-gun evaporation source and 40 keV N~+ bombarding onto the target.It is shown from the composi- tion analysis and structure investigations using RBS,AES,TEM,XPS and X-ray diffraction spectrum that the formed fihns are mainly composed of TiN phase with grain size of 30—40 nm and without preferred orientation,the nitrogen content in the film is much less than that in case without N~+ bombarding,and an intermixed region about 40 nm thick exists between the film and the substrate.The films exhibt high microhardness and low friction. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SUPERALLOY REMELTING PROCES

Shanghai No.5 Steel Co., Ltd. has recently introduced a set of 5-ton protective atmosphere electroslag remelting furnace and a set of lO-ton helium-cooling vacuum arc remelting furnace,both of them are the first one of its kind in China. With these equipment, remelting processes about alloy GH4169, GH2132 and GH738 were researched, the process of producing alloy GH4169 by VIM+ VAR + ESR triplex-process was developed, and their effects were discussed.

STUDY ON THE SiC_p./Al-ALLOY COMPOSITE AUTOMOTIVE BRAKE ROTORS

The SiC_p/Al-alloy composite front broke rotors designed for SHANGHAI SANTANA cars were prepared by semi-solid stirring+liquid for ping process. The properties of the composite rotors were examined. The composite brake rotors were subjected to dynamometer tests on a SCHENCK broke testing system, referring to TLll0 standard of VOLKSWAGEN Company. The friction coefficient and thermal response during fade testing and the wear performance of the composite rotors were studied as the function of various parameters, such as braking pressures, initial speeds, initial temperatures, torque and decelerations, and compared with that of conventional cast iron rotors. The results showed that the properties of SiC_p,/Al-alloy composite rotors can achieve the requirements of commercial cast iron rotor.s. The results also suggested that the friction coefficients of composite rotors under different broking conditions are within the deviation band specified by the TLll0 standard, and the temperature rise of the composite rotors at the cud of each fade stop is lower than that of the cast iron rotors. The wear resistance of composite rotors was higher than that of cast iron rotors. The friction and wear mechanism are analyzed.
