MAGNETIC PROPERTIES AND CRYSTALLIZATION OF AMORPHOUS ALLOYS Co_(90-x)Cr_xZr_(10)

Curie temperature of amorphous alloys Co_(90-x)Cr_x Zr_(10) decreases linearly with increas- ing x.Average magnetic moment per magnetic atom Co or Cr is 1.51 μB or -3.62 μB respectively.The temperature dependence of spontaneous magnetization at low temper- atures is in agreement with Bloch's T~(3/2) law.The spin wave stiffness constant decreases with increasing x from 4 to 20.The range of interaction is 2—3 atoms for x=4 and nearest neighbour atom for x=20.The crystallization temperature increases mono- tonically with increasing x.It may relate to the average number of outer electrons per atom.The crystalline phase components of heat-treated alloys were analyzed by X-ray diffration and thermomagnetic measurement.

DISACCOMMODATION OF INITIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY IN AMORPHOUS Fe_(90-x)Ni_xZr_(10) ALLOYS

The disaccommodation(DA)measurements of initial susceptibility were performed in amorphous Fe_(90-x)Ni_xZr_(10)(x=10,20,30)alloys.The DA was measured for two different amorphous states:as-quenched and pretreated at 537 K for 45 min.For all the as- quenched samples,in the isochronal spectra of DA a well defined relaxation peak around 350 K is accompanied by a samll but distinct peak near the Curie temperature of Fe_(90)Zr_(10) phase(T_c=230 K).The reversibility and annealing effect on DA are analyzed within the framework of two-level model.The fits of the theory to the experimental data of reversible relaxation processes gave a spectrum,of activation energies and pre- exponential factor.

The Curie temperature increases but crystallization temperature decreases with the in- crease of Ga content,x,of amorphous(Fe_(1-x)Ga_x)_(77.5)Nd_4B_(18.5) alloys.The average magnetic moment of Fe atoms is almost a constant.By X-ray diffraction and ther- momagnetic measurements,the crystalline phases of the alloys,an unknown phase and α-(Fe,Ga)besides Fe_3 B as major one,were identified.The relationship between room temperature coercive field and Ga.content was also studied.

CURRENT STATUS OF HIGH-RESOLUTION ELECTRON-MICROSCOPY AND ITS APPLICATIONS TO MATERIALS SCIENCE AND CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS

The present paper summarizes the current status of high resolution elect;on microscopy ( HREM) and the applications of HREM to materials science and condensed matter physics. This review recounts the latest development of high resolution electron microscope, progress of HREM and the applications of HREM, including the crystal structure determination of microcrystalline materials and characterization of the local structure of the defects and nanostructured materials as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of the grain boundaries, interfaces and interfacial reactions in the advanced materials by means of HREM in combination with electron diffraction, subnanometer level analysis, image simulation and image processing.
