Fe-3%Si steel strip was experimental produced by thin slab casting and rolling (TSCR) process in the laboratory. The microstructure and texture of hot rolled strip by different total reduction and rolling schedule was observed through EBSD technique and X-ray diffraction method. The changeable rule of texture density on the α、ε and γ, and fibers was analyzed. When the total reduction was increased from 82.9% to 97.1%,the gradient of microstructure and texture for A steel surface layer and center layer was found, {001}‹110› texture had higher intensity, and {001}‹110› texture was changed to{110}‹001›和{112}‹111›. The texture distribution with different reduction schedule for B steel was basically similar, but the Goss texture orientation density and volume fraction for B steel were higher, the hot rolling reduction schedule of C1 was effective to the formation of Goss texture. The research works were useful theoretical basis and reference data to develop electrical steel by thin slab continuous casting and direct rolling technology.

The deformation of slab with dogbone shape during the horizontal rolling process was simulated using FEM, and the influences of apical dislocation of dogbone on the slab spread as well as the minimum crop end loss and the lost width at slab head and tail were analyzed. The results show that with the increase in the apical dislocation of dogbone (LA), the slab spread and the minimum crop end loss at slab head and tail decrease, while the lost width at slab head and tail increases. Meanwhile, the relationships of S/LALA, LH/LALA, WH/LALA, LT/LALA, and WT/LALA were obtained.

Thermal crown of roll is an important factor, which affects strip profile. It is necessary to analyze the temperature field and thermal crown of roll for hot strip mill. A new simplified finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the temperature field and thermal crown of roll, and corresponding models were built according to the practical boundary conditions. Transient roll temperature field and thermal crown were simulated by ANSYS FEM software with considering transient thermal contact and complex boundary condition. Temperature and thermal crown variations on roll surface nodes were obtained. The thermal crown results of roll obtained by FEM simulation were in good agreement with the measured data, indicating that simplified FEM models and results were correct.

The behavior of transversal cracks on the surface of the slab corner during vertical and horizontal (VH) rolling process with flat vertical roll and groove vertical roll was simulated by explicit dynamic finite element method. The closure and growth of crack and the contact pressure on surfaces of the crack in contacting zone between slab and roll during rolling process were analyzed. The results showed that during vertical rolling process, when the groove vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 115 MPa, and the closure of crack is stable; when the flat vertical roll is used, the maximum contact pressure on surfaces of the crack is 70 MPa, and it fluctuates greatly. During horizontal rolling process, when groove vertical roll is used, the contact pressure becomes zero which may accelerate the growth of crack; when flat vertical roll is used, there is still contact pressure. The calculated results are in good agreement with the results of test.

Dimensions of one kind of stainless steel plate before finish rolling were obtained through analysis of the rough rolling processes by finite element method and updated geometrical method. The FE models of finish rolling process with a front edge roll were built, and influences of the edge rolling reduction on the stress change in the plate edge during finish rolling were analyzed. The results show that when the edge rolling reduction is increased from 0 mm to 2 mm, the compressive stress in plate corner clearly increases in edge rolling process, and the zone of tensile stress during whole rolling decreases; when the edge rolling reduction is increased from 2 mm to 5 mm, the compressive stress in the plate corner seldom changes, and the compressive stress decreases after the horizontal rolling.

A new method was developed by a thermal wear machine to evaluate the thermal wear of rolls in steel rolling process. The steel strip and rolls were simulated by upper and lower heating disks. The upper heating disk could be kept at a temperature of over 900 ℃ by induction heating. The pressure between the disks as high as 3232 MPa could be achieved and the slipping rate could be 127%. The thermal wear of high speed steel (HSS) roll material, the wear rate of the HSS roll, and the SEM morphology of a worn HSS roll surface were investigated. This method was useful and could be employed to simulate friction and wear between strip and roll during the strip rolling process.

Crystal structure of γ-Li_xFe_2O_3,inserted Li electrochemically,was studied by Moss- bauer spectroscopy together with X-ray diffraction,XPS and electrochemical method,On the insertion of Li at low current density,the crystal structure is keeping original spinel; while at higher current density or by thermal activation,owing to violent movement of Li~+ ions,part of crystal structure transforms into rock type similar to face-centered cubic structure of ferrous oxide.The transition channels during insertion of Li~+ ions and limitation of Li~+ ions inserted were discussed.
