Wear Evaluation on Ni3Al/MnS Composite Related to Metallurgical Processes

Iron alloyed Ni3Al with composition of Ni-18.8Al-10.7Fe-0.5Mn-0.5Ti-0.2B in atom percent (NAC alloy) showed attractive tribological properties under unlubrication condition at room temperature. The alloy was prepared by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) process. The wear properties were associated with its intrinsic deformation mechanism. Unfortunately, the single phase NAC-alloy worked inadequately with its counterpart disk, and also showed a poor machinability. In the present work, NAC-alloy matrix composite with 6% (volume percent) MnS particle addition was studied to improve its wear behaviors and performance on machining. Two metallurgical processes of HIP and vacuum casting were applied to produce the testing materials. Pin-on-disk (POD) measurements were carried out at room temperature. A commercial vermicular graphite cast iron was selected as a reference material. The counterpart disk was made of a grey cast iron as liner material in ship engines. The contact pressures of 2.83 MPa and 5.66 MPa were normally applied in the tests. The investigation indicated that MnS particle addition in the NAC-alloy composites functions as an effective solid lubricant, and improved wear properties and machinability of the materials. Obviously, as-cast NAC-alloy with in-situ formed MnS-phase was working more effectively with the counterpart, comparing to the HIPed NAC-alloy composite with MnS particles. At the high contact pressure of 5.66 MPa, the specific wear rate of the as-cast NAC-alloy composite was high. The phenomenon of the negative effect is mostly due to the brittle second NiAl phase as evidenced in the microstructure analysis.

TRACKING OBSERVATION ON SUBSURFACE CRACK IN BEARING STEEL GCr15 UNDER ROLLING CONTACT

Based on the sequent tracking observation on spalling of steel GCr15 under rolling contact fa- tigue,an expression for estimating the propagation of subsurface cracks was derived.The rol- ling contact fatigue life was found to be markedly related to the subsurface crack propagation angle.A new explanation of reason why the rolling contact fatigue life can be prolonged by residual compressive stress and retained austenite was advanced.

Influence of Rolling Reductions on Recrystallization Texture in Commercially Pure Al

The recrystallization texture in commercially pure Al is investigated after the samples are rolled differently and annealed.The samples with low rol- ling reductions could be generally recovered or recrystallized in situ and characterized by the re- tained G{110}<001>component.This recovery process decreases during annealing with the increase of reduction.The appearance of the B/R{359}. <132>and R{123}<634>components de- pending on the rolling reduction is investigated and the less developed Cube{100}<001>component in commercially pure ahninium is also discussed.

LC4铝合金稀土转化膜耐蚀性及影响因素

开发了IC4铝合金稀土转化膜碱性两步成膜工艺ZH1,利用正交优化设计方法确定了最佳工艺参数.采用多种实验方法研究了经ZH1处理的LC4铝合金在氯化物环境中的耐蚀性及其影响因素,结果表明:经ZHI工艺处理过的LC4铝合金耐全面腐蚀和点蚀性能均有明显提高,稀土转化膜既抑制了腐蚀的阴极过程,也抑制了阳极过程.具有ZH1转化膜的LC4铝合金对氯离子浓度和pH值的变化不甚敏感.

Intergrain interaction, coercivity and Henkel plot for NdFeB magnets

For both sintered and nanocomposite NdFeB magnets, deltaM(H) of the Henkel plot increases from zero, and reaches a peak, then decreases and changes to the negative values with increasing applied field. This shows that the intergrain interaction changes from the exchange-coup ling type into the magnetostatic interaction type. The magnetic field corresponding to the peak of deltaM(H) is slightly smaller than the coercivity of magnet. The peak of deltaM(H) for aligned sintered magnet is greater than that for misaligned magnet. deltaM(H) peak of the nanocomposite NdFeB magnets increases with decreasing grain sizes. It indicates that the effect of alignment field on the properties of magnet is similar to that of exchange-coupling interaction.

The influence of laser surface melting and induction hardening on the surface structure,con- tact fatigue life and failure behaviour of the nodular cast iron has been investigated.The con- tact fatigue life can be improved by both laser treatment and induction hardening,but the fail- ure process and type are different from each other.The former is due to lumpy and deep spal- ling caused by crack propagation between the quenching zone and the substrate,and the latter is due to nubby and surface flaking caused by the oil wedged action into surface cracks.

热障涂层皱曲的力学模型研究进展

在EB-PVD/(NiPt)Al涂层中存在皱曲(Rumpling)现象 ,导致涂层的早期失效.综述了皱曲(Rump-ling)力学模型的研究进展,主要包括3个方面的问题:皱曲的力学模型、数值计算方法研究现状;皱曲的机理及力学模型研究中存在的问题和不足;进一步研究皱曲机理并改进模型的途径.提出了在粘结层晶体尺度内棘轮效应与热扩散间存在耦合作用的设想,并认为这种耦合作用是形成皱曲的根本原因.

EFFECT OF LIQUID FLOW ON PRIMARY ARM SPACING OF CONSTRAINED COLUMNAR CRYSTALS

An experimental apparatus,which has a convection generator and an aid-heater,is developed for the study of the effect of stable laminar liquid flow on the directional solidification process by the use of transparent alloy SCN-2wt-% Ace.The flow is perpendicular to primary arms. By in-situ observation and photographing at different specific moments,it has been found that such a flow can cause a great change in primary spacings of constrained columnar crystals:for cells,the spacings become smaller;but for dendrites,they become larger.The former is mainly due to the tilted growth of upstreamside branches,while the latter is mainly due to the coup- ling effect of liquid flow with solutal field around dendrite tips.The faster the liquid flows,the further smaller the cell spacing and the further larger the dendrite spacing.

INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF TEMPERATURES ON TENSILE LOAD DROPS OF TITANIUM ALLOY

Low temperature may greatly affect the mechanical properties of materials. Some in-teresting mechanical phenomena were detected at very low temperature. In this study,a multi-sample tensile installation was designed to study the plastic deformation be-havior for Ti-5Al-2.5Sn extra-low-interstitial (ELI) alloy at liquid helium temperature.The special geometrical instability phenomena in low temperature, serrated deforma-tion and multi necking, was studied in detail in this project. Slip and twinning were determined in the process of plastic fiow by SEM/TEM analysis. Efficts of temper-ature and sequential straining on load drops in tensile stress-strain curves were also studied. Optical measurement method was used to gauge the geometrical characteristic of multi-necking specimens. The sensitivity of partial thermoplastic deformation and the equivalency of low tempemture with high velocity of this material were studied by using micro-mechanics analysis.The criterion of geometrical instability has been discussed. A computer simulation of the low temperature instability of plastic fiow in Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI alloy has been carried out. A computer model has been established which links the hot dtffusion and the plastic fiow of hcp alloys under assumption that the tempemture is homogeneous within the specimen and that the heat exchange with the thermal bath is the control-ling step in the heat release. The computer simulation of the deformation curves as a function of several mechanincal, geometrical and thermal parameters provides a re-alistic description of the experiments. The experimental data available are discnssed in the light of the computer simulation model.

微量热技术测量担载型催化剂的吸附/反应能量并与反应性能相关联:综述

多相催化反应过程伴随着反应分子与催化剂表面之间的相互作用.这种相互作用强度与催化剂的反应性能密切相关.根据萨巴蒂尔原理(Sabatier principle),性能最优的催化剂与反应中间体之间应该具有适中的相互作用强度,一方面促进反应物活化,另一方面允许产物脱附.这样,测量和研究反应分子与催化剂之间的相互作用强度对于理解催化反应性能有非常重要的意义.当气体反应物接触到催化剂表面会伴随着热量的产生,该热量被定义为吸附热,并与吸附物种与催化剂之间形成的化学键强度直接相关.吸附热通常可以通过程序升温脱附(TPD)等方法间接获得.但是这些方法建立在吸附物种能够可逆地吸附和脱附的假设基础上.在实际的程序升温过程中,吸附物种通常会发生分解,并伴随着固体催化剂的重构等现象.因此,采用基于Tian-Calvet原理的热流量热计直接测量担载催化剂的吸附热是最可靠的吸附热测量方法.基于热流量热计测量的微量热技术的一个重要优点是采用合适的探针分子吸附,可以获得担载型催化剂表面吸附活性中心的数量、强度及其能量分布的定量信息.比如,采用碱性探针分子NH3或者吡啶,酸性探针分子CO2或SO2能够定量催化剂上酸-碱位的强度和数量,而金属催化剂活性中心可以应用H2或CO进行探测.当这些催化剂活性中心的定量表征结果与催化剂的反应活性测试结果相关联时,可以区分不同强度活性中心的反应性能,并为提高和改进催化剂性能提供研制方向.相对于NH3或CO等小分子气体,催化反应的反应物、产物或可能的中间体通常都是复杂分子,程序升温技术测量它们的吸附热时,这些分子通常会发生分解,限制了其吸附热的测量和研究.微量热技术能够直接测量这些分子的吸附热.因此,与催化反应活性相关联,反应物、产物或可能的中间体的吸附能量的测量和研究有利于更直接地认识催化剂的反应性能.在催化反应循环过程中,除了吸附,还包括表面反应和脱附步骤.这些步骤也伴随着吸附物种与催化剂之间键的形成与转换,并以热量的形式表现出来.测量这些热量对于认识催化反应过程,理解催化反应机理有重要的意义.热流量热计与催化微反系统相结合,为催化反应过程能量的测量和研究提供了可能.尽管微量热技术在测量担载型催化剂的吸附/反应能量并与反应性能相关联方面有其独特的优势,但是为了更好地用于催化研究,应该结合其它的表征技术(比如红外)确定吸附或反应物种的本质,结合理论计算对量热结果进行更好地补充和认识.本文综述了担载型催化剂的吸附/反应能量与反应性能关联的研究进展,指出了微量热技术在催化研究中的优势、不足,以及未来的研究方向.
