The glass formability of Ni_(75)B_(17)Si_8 melt and the thermostability of this metallic glass formed from the the melt can be enhanced by eliminating the heterogeneous catalystg. The purification was done by cyclical superheating melt in special glasses and subsequently cyclically superheating it in an electromagnetic levitation apparatus. The purified Ni_(75)B_(17)Si_8 amorphous sample sized up to 20 ~ I0 x 0.5 mm was prepared as four times the thickness of unpurified ones.

The A1-2.79Li-1.3Cu-0.7Mg-0.12Zr(8090) alloy has excellent resistance to intergranular and exfoliation corrosion as naturally aged, worst as peak aged and rather better as underaged than as overaged. The corrosion behaviour of the alloy is closely dependent on its microstructure. Under the peak aging condition, the coarse T_2 phase, which is continuously distributed along grain boundaries, has so low corrosion potential in comparison with the ma- trix, this makes the corrosion resistance of the alloy to be deteriorated by anodic dissolution along grain boundaries.

The formability of complex flourides has been studied by chemical bond parameter-pattern recognition method. In a multi-dimensional space spanned by ionic radius, ionic polarizability, electronegativity and ionic charge of the metal elements, the binary complex flouride-forming systems and binary flouride systems without complex flouride formation distribute in different regions with a clear-cut boundary. The mathematical models obtained are useful for new complex flouride predicton.

The dynamic mechanical behaviours of super low carbon high Mo austenitic stainless steel (00Cr20Nil8Mo6CuN)during hot deformation have been studied by using Formaster-Press hot working simulator. The hot deformation equation, as well as the relationship between peak strain, peak stress and Zener-Hollman parameter, together with the deformation activation energy have been resulted through the experiments.

A novel test method of measuring the interface bond strength between a thermal sprayed coating and substrate is put forward first in this paper. The test method is simple and reliable, and exists no any inherent shortcoming and controversy. The interface bond strength obtained by the test method is completely the inherent property of the interface and depends only on coating material properties, spray conditions, and technique of depositing the coating. By extensive tests, it is shown that the test tesults are very tepeatable and reliable. Furthermore, from this test, the critical coating thickness under which the coating spall can not emerge is also obtained.

The behaviour towards corrosion fatigue of low carbon bainite steel with various microstructures after tempered at different temperatures has been examined. The susceptibility of the steel to corrosion fatigue may be improved by tempering at 300℃.

The stress-strain-resistance relations of the Fe-Mn-Si alloys with different Si content have been investigated by measuring strain (ε) and resistance (△ R/R) upon tension synchronously. The results show that the strum induced γ→ε martensitic transfor- mation increases the strain sensitivity coeffcient of resistance (K) for the Fe-Mn-Si alloys in plastic region. There is a critical strum where dσ/dε becomes a constant value. Si increases the critical strum. A correlation between the critical strain and shape memory effect (SME) in the Fe-Mn-Si alloys is suggested.

The effect of chloride ion on the corrosion inhibition of iron caused by dencylamine(DA), dipentylamine(DDA) and dodecylamine(DPA) has been investigated by measuring the inhibitory coefficients for the anodic and cathodic processes at corrosion potential. It has been shown that the major synergistic inhibition effects between amines and chloride ions occur in the cathodic process, very weak in the anodic process. The anodic inhibition mechanism follows the competing adsorptive model, while the cathodic inhibition mechanism follows the cooperative adsorptive model.

Plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII), unrestricted by sight-light process, is considered a proper method for inner surface strengthening. Two-dimensional simulation oj inner surface PIII process of cylindrical bores were carried out in this paper using cold plasma fluid model, and influence of the bore's dimension on impact energy, retained dose and uniformity of inner surface were investigated.

The thermodynamic properties of Cu-Ce-S and Cu-Y-S liquid solutions were studied by the chemical equilibrium technique at 1200℃. The equilibrium constants and the standard free energies of formation of CeS and YS were determined for the reactions: CeS=[Ce]+[S] and YS = [Y]+[S] . For the solution of Ce_(1) and Y_(l) in pure Cu according to the reactions: Ce_(1)= [Ce] and Y_(1)= [Y] , the standard free energies of solutions were obtained. The first order and second order interaction coefficients between solute elements as well as the activity coefficients γ_(Ce)~0 and γ_Y~0 in liquid Cu were also determined.
