THE CALCULATION OF BaO ACTIVITIES IN BaO-BaF_2-Cr_2O_3 SYSTEM FLUXES USING SCHUHMANN METHOD

The principle and steps for the calculation of component activities in fluxes using Schuhmann method are described. On the foris of Gibbs-Duhem equation and using Cr2O3 activities in BaO-BaF2-Cr2O3 system fiuxes, BaO activities at 1523 and 1673K are calculated, respectivelg,and the isoactivity diagrums of BaO are also obtained. The calculation results indicate that BaO activity increases with increasing its content in fiuxes, and decreaaes with the increase of Cr2O3 content at a given XBaO/XBaF2 ratio.

Rapidly solidified Al92.3Fe4.3V0.7Si1.7Mm1.0 alloy has been studied by positron lifetime spectroscopy and the variations on the intedecial defects with the annealing temperature were revealed by an analysis of the lifetime results. The intedece characteristics derived from the positron-lifetime results could be used to give a satisfactory interpretation of the dependence of mechanical properties on the annealing temperature

The formation of nonequilibrium phase by mechanical alloying (MA) of Fe and B powders in a high energy vibration ball mill has been made for Fe100-xBx system with x=15. 30, 35, 45,55 and 70. By using the X-ray diffraction, magnetic measurement and M6ssbauer spectrummethods, it was revealed that the structure of the MA product varies with milling time and B contents.

Soperplastic tensions on an IM SiCp/2024Al composite were conducted. The microstrvcture and fmcture sudece of the composite under the optimum saperplastic deformation condition were examined. The eoperimental results show that as the increase of strain during superpldstic deformation, grains fundarnentally remained equiaxed structure, and dislocation density increases gradually and its structure changes hem intererossed into nets each other to tangled and cellular structure,and the amount of liquid phase at the intedeces or gruin boundaries increases gradually. Mcrostructure examination revealed that failure took place by damage accumulation of the pmpressive decohesion of the SiC particle-matrix until a critical volume fruction was reached.

Stoichiometric NbTiAl_3 (γ1 Phase) Alloy in Ti-Al-Nb Ternary System

The microstructure and phase constitution in stoichiometric NbTiAl3 (γ1 phase) alloy treated at 1000℃ were examined by metallography and X-ray diffraction. The alloy microstructure is mainly γ1 phase containing η second phase [(Ti,Nb)Al3] less than 1%. DTA analysis shows no phase transformation from room temperature to 1200℃. In the diffusion couple of NbTiAl3 with 7-TiAl compound, clear phase boundary and composition jump exist between γ1 and γ phase.These results further confirm the existence of γ1 single phase at 1000℃ in Ti-Al-Nb ternary system.
