Good quality crystals of calcium p-nitrophenolate (NPCa) were grown from saturated solution by slow evaporation method. The crystal structure analysis and the molecular arrangement of these crystals were determined using X-ray diffraction (XRD). From single crystal XRD studies, NPCa is found to be crystallized in the monoclinic system with a space group P21/n. The functional groups of the material were confirmed qualitatively by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) spectral analysis. Optical absorption studies reveal the absorption region and microhardness studies were carried out to confirm the mechanical behaviour of the crystals.

The corrosion behavior of hot dip galvanized steel
pretreated with bis-[triethoxy-\linebreak\noindent silylpropyl]
tetrasulfide (BTESPT) modified with alumina particles was studied.
The corrosion resistance of the passiving films was evaluated by
Tafel polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
The films formed on the galvanized steel substrate were
characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy
dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The surface morphology of the treated
hot dip galvanized steel samples was observed by Field Emission
Scanning Electron Microscope. The results show that the
pretreatments on the basis of silane films modified with nanoalumina
particles have reduced both anodic and cathodic current densities,
and increased total impedance in the measured frequency,
consequently, improving corrosion protection for hot dip galvanized
steel during immersion in NaCl solutions compared to chromate films
and silane films.

Copper ferrite, CuFe2O4, one of the important ferrites due to its interesting electrical, magnetic and structural properties, is obtained by a novel self flash combustion of a homogeneous mixture of one mole copper acetate monohydrate, Cu(CH3COO)2•H2O, and two moles of iron (III) acetate basic, Fe(CHCOO)2•OH. Nanocrystalite (89 nm) copper ferrite (less than 100%) is obtained at lower temperatures, whereas 100% copper ferrite is obtained after calcination at 1000℃. Thermal analysis (TG and DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), photo microscopy, magnetic and porosity measurements have been carried out for the specimens obtained after calcinations at 700, 800, 900 and 1000℃ to characterize the conversion efficiency of the powder precursors to copper ferrite. It was found that increasing temperature leads to great improvement in the magnetic properties. By increasing calcination temperature from 700~1000℃ saturation magnetic flux density (Bs) increased from 17.8 to 40.8 emu/g, while remnant magnetic flux density (Br) increased from 10.1 to 17.11 emu/g.

The incorporation of the imidazole nucleus is an important strategy in pharmaceuticals, chemiluminescence and electroluminescence. A facile synthesis of some aryl substituted imidazole derivatives from substituted benzils and substituted benzaldehydes via Debus reaction is described. Their structures were identified by IR, MS, NMR and their characteristics were evaluated by UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy.

通过调整工艺条件,制得不同分散性的碳管改性环氧树脂,分别采用静置观察法、黏度法、细度法对分散性进行宏观表征.结果表明:碳管的分散性越好,环氧树脂的黏度越大、细度越低、保存时间越长;三种方法均可以表征碳纳米管的分散均匀性;黏度法和细度法可以实现碳管分散性的快速评价,但均需找出具体的评价标准.通过建立刮板细度与碳管分散性的对应关系,可以快速表征碳管的分散性,简便易行.

采用乙醇为碳源,乙酸钴为催化剂,通过简易的溶剂热“一锅法”,在600℃下制备了石墨化炭空心材料( GHS).借助X射线衍射仪(XRD)、扫描电子显微镜(SEM)、透射电子显微镜(TEM)和拉曼光谱法(Raman)对产物的结构和形貌进行了表征.结果表明:材料具有较高的石墨化程度,并呈现明显的中空结构.
